In an exciting encounter off the coast of Destin, Florida, a 14-foot great white shark circled and bit a fishing boat, leaving the crew stunned.
The incident occurred according to the Tallahasee Democrat on April 10, 2025, when Captain Capt. Taylor Bankston an his crew were fishing approximately nine miles offshore.
According to Bankston, the shark appeared suddenly, circling the boat several times.
“I looked up … what I thought I saw in the water was a submarine, and I was waiting next for the periscope to pop out of the water,” Bankston said.
The crew managed to capture video footage of the shark, which has since gone viral on social media.
Parts of “Jaws 2” were filmed in the Destin area.
I love fun shark facts like that.
