Shark movies have given us everything from genuine suspense to absolute cinematic train wrecks. During KOH Week of Sharks 2026, I had the chance to join legendary horror host Count Drahoon to celebrate the strange, hilarious, and often baffling side of shark cinema.
Instead of counting down the biggest or the best shark films, we went in the opposite direction.
We tackled the Five Worst Shark Movies Ever Made.
If you’ve ever laughed at rubber-looking sharks, impossible biology, unbelievable special effects, or plots that make absolutely no sense, this countdown is for you. Count Drahoon and I break down some of the most infamous shark films ever released, discussing what went wrong, what somehow made them entertaining anyway, and why bad shark movies have developed such a loyal following.
From outrageous creature-feature insanity to some of the weirdest shark concepts ever put on film, it’s a fun look at the movies that remind us not every shark story belongs in the deep blue sea.
Of course, while Hollywood often gets sharks completely wrong, the real animals are far more fascinating than fiction.
